We have an opportunity for a Cardiac RMO (registrar grade) required for a 7 bedded Critical care unit.
This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Degree in Medicine (e.g. MB, Ch.B, MBBS, MD etc.).
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council with License to Practice (GMC).
- CALS certification.
- Up to date clinical experience and skills in intensive care setting (at least 3 years of experience).
- Up to date certificates for mandatory corporate and clinical training from NHS.
- Up to date certificate for Basic Life Support.
- Specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery or equivalent to SAS level cardiothoracic doctor in the NHS.
- Must have cardiothoracic surgery experience for minimum of 5 years since primary medical qualification.
Duties of this role include:
- Support the cardiac and cardiothoracic specialist with their patient care and management.
- Provide clinical direction for critical care nursing staff in the hospital and support middle grade intensivists and/or ward RMOs with urgent/emergency situations and other relevant clinical issues related to cardiothoracic patients when required.
- Ensure that high standards of patient care are always maintained in accordance with agreed operational policies, as a skilled member of the hospital team.
- Promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients and hospital personnel.
- Be confident with the emergency management of acute thoracic conditions e.g. cardiac tamponade, pneumothorax, haemothorax etc.
